Journal Broadcast Group buys Renda's "K-Hits" and "Bob" in Tulsa 

The stations are Top 40 "K-Hits" KHTT, Muskogee (106.9) and variety hits "Bob FM" KBEZ (92.9). They are both full Class C facilities, and they become Journal's fourth and fifth stations in Tulsa, Arbitron market #66. On his recent quarterly call, Journal Chairman/CEO Steve Smith talked about potential acquisitions, and particularly about add-ons in current markets. Journal's current Tulsa cluster is country KVOO (98.5), classic country KXBL (99.5) and talk KFAQ (1170). Steve Smith says "We have high regard for Renda Broadcasting and their talented team, and are very pleased to add these exceptional stations to our Tulsa cluster." No price was announced for the deal. Privately-held Renda Broadcasting is based in Pittsburgh. Broker on the transaction: Michael Bergner, for buyer Journal Communications.
