The city of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., is known for its horse racing and performing arts center. Now, it will also be known as the latest U.S. city to get one of two Christian Contemporary Music noncomm formats offered by Educational Media Foundation.

That’s because a station most recently known as “The Jockey” has joined the EMF stable.

Michael J. Bergner of Bergner & Co. was the exclusive broker in this transaction.
In a transaction valued at $550,000.EMF is buying Class A WJKE-FM 101.3, licensed to Stillwater, N.Y.
With 2,900 watts, WJKE's signal mainly covers Saratoga Springs and Ballston Spa, just to the north of Albany and Scheneetady. However, favorable terrain gives WJKE coverage of nearly all of the immediate Capital District, and north to Glen Falls.
The sellers is Empire Broadcasting, which will continue to own three AMs - Adult Standards WABY-AM 900, in Watervilet; Adult Alternative WAIX-AM 1160 and FM translator W291BY at 106.1 MHz in Albany; and Class C Talk WPTR-AM 1240 in Schenectady.
The current WPTR is not to be confused with the former 50kw Top 40 WPTR-AM 1540, now the presently dark WDCD.
EMF has made a 10% escrow deposit to Empire for WJKE; the remainder is due at closing.
